Top best answers to the question «How effective is the nuvaring when on antibiotics»

  • In regard to Nuvaring specifically, most studies conclude that antibiotics do NOT decrease hormone concentrations in those using the Nuvaring vaginal contraceptive. The lack of the interaction is most likely due to the fact that the hormones in Nuvaring are absorbed vaginally, and avoid metabolism through the gut and liver.

IT can make you gain weight, I put 50+ lbs on with it. Personally I'd suggest the Nuvaring if it's an option. I spent 3 months on it and LOVED It! The reason is Nuvaring is low dose, you won't normally put weight on with it, and it's easier than a pill and you don't have to remember it every day the same time.

Hey you and your girlfriend have nothing to worry about, antibiotics don't effect the Nuvaring like they do with "the pill" This is an article from a medical journal that can confirm this for you. :-D

NuvaRing for 21 days plus amoxicillin on for 10 days. The results of the study showed that there were no differences in hormone concentrations between those using Nuvaring alone versus those using it with the antibiotic. Other studies have shown the same results.

When the birth-control method NuvaRing hit the market in 2001, it offered an alternative to women who didn’t want to take a pill every day while still offering the same level of effectiveness — 99%.

Effectiveness . The NuvaRing is 91% to 99% effective. This means that with perfect use, less than 1 out of every 100 people who use the birth control ring will become pregnant in one year. With typical use, 9 out of every 100 people who use NuvaRing will become pregnant in one year.

Below, we list some commonly reported positives and negatives of Nuvaring: Positives. Increased adherence with dosing. There is no need to remember to take pills daily. Same contraceptive efficacy of combined oral contraceptives. Contains a third generation progestin, which may be beneficial for acne, fluid retention, and lipid profiles. Negatives

When used correctly, the birth control ring (NuvaRing) is 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. Correct use of the NuvaRing involves putting it into your vagina and leaving it in for three weeks, then removing it for a week before replacing it and starting the cycle again. If you don’t put in your new NuvaRing on time or the NuvaRing is out of your vagina for more than 3 hours when you’re supposed to have it in, the effectiveness will decrease.

If you use it perfectly, the ring is 99% effective. But people aren’t perfect and it can be easy to make a mistake — so in reality the ring is about 91% effective. That means about 9 out of 100 ring users get pregnant each year. The better you are about putting the ring in your vagina on schedule, the better it will work.

its not as effective as initial research showed... the package insert and nuvaring website say it is 99% effective... it has recently been shown to be closer to 95%so be careful! several women have been getting pregnant while using nuvaring as directed... i myself am concerned i may be and iv been using it properly for several months!

Combined hormonal contraceptives include: The pill (Yaz, Tri-Sprintec, Cryselle, Heather, etc.) The patch (Ortho Evra) The ring (NuvaRing) Combined hormonal contraceptives use multiple mechanisms to reduce the possibility of pregnancy.
